5th Grade Challenge Math Project

How would you spend $1,000,000?

Grade 5 students in Challenge Math had the opportunity to answer that question.  They chose a charity or a cause which would benefit by receiving $1,000,00 and developed a plan.   The students proposed a budget, categorizing their major expenses.   They researched each category, using web sites to itemize the expenses.  Based upon their research, they made adjustments to their initial budget and created a final accounting sheet.  The students made computer-generated pie graphs reflecting their final accounting sheet figures.
