PARK HILL PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The fundamental objective of the physical education program is to
provide opportunities for the development of motor skills, physical
fitness, cooperation, and sportsmanship. Becoming physically
educated is a developmental process that begins in early childhood and
continues throughout life. It involves the total child and
includes physical, mental, social, and emotional growth
experiences. The program provides instruction that will enable
the pursuit of physical fitness and a lifetime of physical activity

PARK HILL MUSIC ROCKS!
The elementary music program at Park Hill School is vibrant,
multicultural, and creative. Music class is a place of joy, where
community-building and skill-building go hand in hand. Students
in the elementary grades (K-5) work on core musical concepts and
skills, sing and play folk songs from around the world, accompany
themselves on xylophones, play the blues on recorders, write their own
songs, read and create rhythms to layer together for STOMP percussion
ensembles, listen to and analyze music from different historical
periods, and put on wonderful student-centered performances.
Beginning in 5th grade, Park Hill offers a band program for interested
students, which carries into the middle school years. Through
both classical and contemporary songs, students learn techniques for
practice and ensemble work on their chosen instrument, developing pride
and self-confidence as musicians who can read and play more challenging
music. These same students show improved motivation for doing
well in school and in life, and they find a place to belong here, and
to shine. Our band instructor brings years of experience in
building successful programs, and his dedication shows in the extra
time he spends tutoring students outside of class.
Not to be left out, the middle school choir is simply amazing, led by a
talented conductor who also works with the Rocky Mountain Children's
Choir. The Park Hill Middle School Choir is a voice for
compassion and justice at Park Hill School and in the world. The
choir members not only build skills in reading, singing harmonies,
blending voices, and stage presence, but they serve as positive leaders
throughout the school. They participate in the citywide choir
festival each year, as well as offering other special performances
around the city.
Music at Park Hill School is a gem. We are so lucky to have these artistic offerings for our children and our community.

COMPUTER LAB
"In order to prepare students to succeed in a global, high-tech,
information rich society, the mission of the DPS Information Literacy
and Technology Plan is to ensure that all students and staff are
effective users of tools, ideas and information to meet the goals and
content standards of the Denver Public Schools. All instructional
efforts to meet or exceed the DPS Information Literacy and Technology
Proficiencies will be completed in partnership by classroom teachers,
media specialists, technology teachers and building leaders."
This is the mission statement from Denver Public School Information Literacy and Technology.
At Park Hill we hope to exceed these standards, by giving the students
the opportunity to use logical thinking along with the proper use of
the tools in our dedicated computer lab. We value the process of
learning in an environment that not only teaches keyboarding skills and
office application proficiency, but a process to help with good study
habits and logical thinking.
